My name is Elisa “Lisa” Lipton, and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with two decade’s worth of experience providing counseling services and helping children, teenagers, adults and families.
Over the years, I have developed a special interest and passion for helping pre-adolescent and adolescent girls. Working at a Therapeutic Boarding School for girls ages 10-16 for three years, as a Treatment Coordinator and Therapist, solidified my dedication to help our society’s daughters and I’ve co-facilitated Parent Seminars and Family Workshops to help families have a better understanding of the challenges facing girls in adolescence.
The mission of my private psychotherapy practice in Mission Viejo, California, and the reason I founded Girl Spirit, is to help your daughter address any issues she’s experiencing and help you create the relationship with her that you both need and desire so she may recognize how much she matters and realize her true worth.
In addition to writing numerous articles, I am presently a part-time adjunct professor teaching Marriage & Intimacy and Abnormal Psychology at Woodbury University, provide individual and family therapy for boys and girls ages 10-17 at Grace and Growth, and provide individual and group therapy for young adult men who are struggling with addiction, dual diagnosis, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues at Pace Recovery Center.
Being married and the proud mom of a six-year-old son brings a personal perspective to my work. In addition to my role as a mother, hiking the beautiful trails of California with my two little Pomeranian dogs, Hercules and Samson, brings a great deal of peace and joy to my life outside the office.
My goal as a therapist is to create a relationship with your daughter and you based on mutual honesty and respect, as well as knowledge and compassion. I will strive to ensure you and she feel heard and supported, learn new coping skills, and begin letting go of behaviors that aren’t serving you so you both can move forward in life with confidence that you are on the right path for you.
